BURERA — Local leaders should pioneer development, become pillars of economic transformation and unity in the society.

This was the message to the traditional cultural group –Itorero-of Burera district, as they received certificates of recognition from the district.

At least 252 Itorero members from six sectors of Kivuye, Gatebe, Ruhunde among others, were recognised and awarded certificates, with a call on them to act as the light of society.

Speaking during the function, the district mayor, Aime Bosenbamwe, asked the group named ‘indacogora ku mihigo’ to develop a culture of hard work in order to improve livelihoods.

He asked the group that looked visibly enthusiastic, to join farmers’ cooperatives and focus on commercial farming along side subsistence.
