THE second division league kicks off this afternoon with 20 clubs bidding for promotion to the lucrative Primus league.

In Group A, Pepiniere host Kibuye at Kigali Regional Stadium, Interforce take on ISAE at Ferwafa, Sec Academy entertain Stella Maris at Kicukiro, Etoile de l’Est travel to Muhanga to play Intare while Nyanza host Nyamata.

In Group B, Aspor takes on Zebres; Union plays Sorwathe, Esperance host Espoir, National University of Rwanda (NUR) entertains Kirehe while new comers United Stars clash with Rwamagana.

Last year, the league featured 16 teams. At the end of the regular season, eventual champions Muhanga and La Jeunesse were promoted into the top flight (Primus National Football League) but no PNFL teams went down following the exits of Atraco and Electrogaz.

Muhanga were crowned champions after defeating La Jeunesse on penalties   (4-3).
