Uganda’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, Richard Kabonero, yesterday said that cross- border trade with Rwanda will not be affected in today’s elections taking place in his country. “Security is guaranteed and our policy is that trade and commerce will not be hindered in any way. Cross-border movement will continue as usual,” Kabonero said.

"Security is guaranteed and our policy is that trade and commerce will not be hindered in any way. Cross-border movement will continue as usual,” Kabonero said.
He added that about 4,300 Ugandans living in Rwanda will not be able to vote in today’s Presidential elections because the Ugandan constitution does not give voting rights to its citizens who are out of the country.
"Unfortunately we do not have a policy allowing Ugandans to vote from outside the country. If they are to vote, they will have to travel to Uganda, the envoy said.
Today’s polls will be the third since the country embraced multiparty democracy and the incumbent. President Yoweri Museveni, will be seeking re-election for a fourth term.
