Tourism experts from eastern African countries will meet representatives from the United Nation Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) to discuss the sustainability of the Tourism industry.

The meeting will take place next week in Djibouti.
According to a statement from UNECA, the experts will discuss the creation of partnerships to develop regional cooperation and integration.

They will also chart an effective sub-regional policy for East Africa’s tourism industry.

Birane Cisse, the economic officer at UNECA, said that the meeting will have a great impact on the industry in the region.

"Tourism is one of the pillars of the Africa’s economy…I am therefore optimistic that the meeting will have outcomes that are developmental not only to our region but also to the continent,” Cisse said in an interview.

The meeting takes place after Rwanda was named among the top five emerging tourism destination in the world and first on the continent by British travel magazine, Wanderlust Travel.

The sub region brings together Rwanda, Burundi, Comoros, DRC, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Seychelles and Djibouti.
