The revolting stench in certain city corners is not that of a dead rotting rat, but the concentration of ammonia that gradually sucks the life out of the green and beautiful plants along these places. Kigali is said to be one of the cleanest cities in Africa and the world in general but there are some setbacks such as, urinating in public places. This is word on the street about a habit that has become acceptable in many societies.

"Urinating in public places is bad, but to be honest, there are people whose bodies may not be strong enough to wait until they get to the toilet. That is why they are forced to do it.”

"Urinating in public places is a sign of irresponsibility. Man is supposed to protect the environment! Urinating carelessly around destroys our own living conditions.”

"I know that many people will not tell the truth about this because it is unhygienic, but it’s also a fact that certain situations force people to do it. I would personally urinate in public provided no one sees me rather than doing it in my pants.”

"Urinating in public places is too contagious and I believe there is no reason to defend it. I can never do it and I always discourage others from the habit.”

 "I personally would never urinate in a public place. I say it should be avoided under normal circumstances. However, I agree that in certain situations when travelling long distances people can do it at any stopover.”
