As Uganda Cranes star Sserumaga signs three-month deal

RAYON Sport has dismissed rumours linking Bokota Kamana Labama with a return to the club.

The 25-year-old striker currently plays his football in Kinshasa, DRC with FC Les Stars, but had been mentioned as a possible transfer target for the Blues ahead of the second round of the Primus National Football League (PNFL).

However, Rayon’s Chief Executive Officer Jim Ford Angulu says he is not about to bring Bokota back, despite the player’s impressive stint in the local league between 2006 and 2009.

Angulu said: "I haven’t got a clue where this has come from. It’s not fair on the club or Bokota.

"He’s at a club, he is under contract and good luck to him. I am sure if you asked him, he has got no intentions of leaving Les Stars.”

"And if he was to leave, I am not sure Rayon would be at the top of his list,” the Kenyan added.

Bokota joined Rayon from AS Vita in 2006 scoring 18 goals in 42 appearances. He then crossed to APR in 2008 were he scored eight goals in 24 appearances before being slapped with a one-year ban by Rwanda’s football governing body (Ferwafa) after playing in the Congolese league.

Rayon, who have not won a trophy since 2004, are trying to rebuild. Last week, the club signed Andy Mfutila on a long term contract.

The former APR coach has already signed Ugandan international Mike Sserumaga and is now targeting three midfielders in Ronsalt Mbenza, Alain Ndozouau and Utu Kawesa. Sofapaka pair of Bob Mugabe (striker) and Patrick Oboya (midfielder) is also on Mfutila’s wish list.
The Uganda Cranes star joined on a three-month deal but can extend his stay come June.

"Should he impress, he will be offered a long-term deal at the end of the season,” Angulu added.

Rayon is currently third on the league table with 17 points, ten behind reigning champions and table leaders APR.
