KIGALI - The Minister of Culture and Sports, Joseph Habineza, yesterday, tendered in his resignation.

Habineza’s resignation follows the mass circulation of pictures on the internet, depicting indiscretion on his part.

According to Prime Minister Benard Makuza, Habineza’s resignation was accepted.

"Based on article 125 of the Constitution, the President received and accepted the resignation of Minister Habineza,” Makuza said.

In an interview with The New Times, Habineza said that he resigned due to personal reasons, but went on to say:

"I have resigned for personal reasons but when you see people publishing pictures and all that, it is not good for your image as a Minister,” Habineza told The New Times.
