THE second round of the Primus National Football League (PNFL) has been penciled to start in April. The local football federation (Ferwafa) yesterday revealed that following Amavubi’s hasty exit from this year’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Sudan, clubs with games in hand have been told to regroup and wind up the first round.

The highlight of these postponed matches is a clash between reigning champions APR and Rayon Sport. Other games lined up include Kiyovu vs Etincelles, APR vs Marines and Etincelles vs Muhanga.

APR tops the league table with 27 points. Kiyovu is second with 22 points while Police and Rayon follow in third place with 17 points.

Mukura and Muhanga are in the relegation zone with five and two points respectively.

Amavubi will then regroup for their third 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Burundi. The Wasps’ qualification chances hang in a balance after identical 3-0 defeats in their opening qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Benin. While many have already counted off Rwanda, Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh insists that victory over Burundi will revive Rwanda’s chances.

Also lined up is the 2012 London Olympic Games qualifier between Rwanda’s U-23 side and Zambia.
