Nyagatare - Students at the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), under the association Home at School, have paid health insurance cover for over 50 vulnerable people in Karangazi, Nyagatare District.

"It would be of less value to be recognized as intellectuals in public when people from your home village are starving and you can’t do anything to help them,” John Gahigana, the association representative, said at the handover on Monday.

Emmanuel Murenzi, the Executive Secretary of Karangazi sector, welcomed the students’ gesture, urging students from other institutions to emulate them.

"God should bless these children for what they have done for me,” 68-year old beneficiary, Valerie Ngirumwami, prayed.

The association is composed of students from SFB hailing from Karangazi. Last year, they contributed to the Nine Year Basic Education and they are planning to contribute to the anti-Nyakatsi house campaign in their home area.
