Kirabo named Governor of Eastern Province

KIGALI - The outgoing Mayor of Kigali City, Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, has been appointed Governor of the Eastern Province. She replaces Dr. Ephraim Kabaija.

KIGALI - The outgoing Mayor of Kigali City, Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, has been appointed Governor of the Eastern Province. She replaces Dr. Ephraim Kabaija.

This was disclosed after yesterday’s cabinet meeting, which also announced major changes in top government and diplomatic positions.

Mary Baine, formerly Commissioner General of Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), takes over as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She will be replaced by Ben Bahizi Kagarama who has been a Deputy Commissioner in charge of large tax payers.
Richard Tushabe was appointed Deputy Commissioner General.

Robert Masozera, the former head of the Diaspora Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed Rwanda’s Ambassador to Belgium replacing Ambassador Gerard Ntwari, who now becomes Rwanda’s Ambassador to Senegal.

Ambassador Jacqueline Mukangira, formerly Rwanda’s Ambassador to Sweden was recalled to head the Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation Directorate, replacing Joseph Kabakeza, who took over from Masozera at the Diaspora Directorate.

Mukangira’s was replaced by Ambassador Venantie Sebudandi who has been in Switzerland.

Other prominent appointments include Eugene Barikana who was appointed the Director of Cabinet in the Prime Minister’s Office. Barikana was replaced as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Local Government by Cyrille Turatsinze.

The Cabinet also appointed Samuel Kanyemera a Commissioner in the National Human Rights Commission.
