KIGALI - Veterinary experts from the continent will converge, in Kigali, tomorrow to attend the 19th conference of the World Organization for Animal Health, Regional Commission for Africa.
The meeting will discuss the strengthening of veterinary services, existing capacity gaps and veterinary service registration in Africa, among other issues.
According to Dr Theogene Rutagwenda, the director general of Rwanda Animal Resources Development Authority (RARDA), everything is in place to ensure that the meeting is a success.
He added that the international conference will also review good governance in veterinary services and the role of the platform in helping African countries attain the millennium development goals
Rutagwenda is Rwanda’s delegate at the conference.
He said that all delegates have arrived and they intend to hold a veterinary technical meeting today before the official opening of conference tomorrow.
"We shall have a veterinary technical meeting tomorrow (today) to assess the performance of veterinary services in Africa,” said Rutagwenda.
The four-day conference will be opened by Minister of Agriculture , Agnes Kalibata.
