WESTERN PROVINCE RUSIZI

A group of over 148 returnees who were expelled from Tanzania last month have been transfer red to Rusizi district from Kiyanzi.

 The group including 62 women, 45 men and 41 children and were initially settled in Kiyanzi camp in Kirehe district, Eastern Province.

They have now been resettled in Kabakobwa cell of Gashonga sector, Rusizi district. Speaking to The New Times, the mayor of Rusizi District Jean Pierre Turatsinze said, "the district received over 148 returnees from Kiyanzi camp in Kirehe and have temporarily been settled in Kabakobwa cell in Gashonga sector.

” Turatsinze also said that the district management in collaboration with the ministry of Local government is organising to build over 100 houses for the returnees.

 He also added that the district management donated over 70 tents and foodstuffs to the returnees, adding that local residents have been mobilized to provide any assistance to the returnees as soon as possible.
