KIGALI - Rwanda’s Men and Women basketball teams yesterday emerged winners in the Zone V tournament which kicked off on February 7, 2011 in Kigali.

The six- day –tournament saw both teams win all their games till the finals that were played yesterday.

It was the Rwandan women side that first sealed their win against the hard fighting Kenyan team with a three point margin (54-57) thus accomplishing the unbeaten run.

The Rwandan men’s side emulated the women team and thoroughly cluttered the Kenyan defensive arrangement hence thumping them 46-74.

With the impressive passes and ballistic rebounds, the Rwandan men’s side kept the crowd on their feet.

The senior Coach for both Rwandan teams (men and women) Vaceslav Kavedzija was short of words after being awarded both trophies.

"It was not an easy task but I attribute both wins to team work and determination,” he said.

In the women category, the Ethiopian side lost to Burundi 49-101 and Uganda thumped Tanzania 64-33 while the Tanzanian men’s side lost to Burundi with a two point difference.
