KAMPALA - Ugandan security authorities are holding two Rwandans over "charges” that the Police has declined to reveal, The New Times reports.

"What I can confirm to you is that Police detained them, but I cannot readily tell which charges they are accused of,” Judith Nabakoba, the Uganda Police spokesperson told The New Times in an interview yesterday.

Nabakoba said that the arrested individuals are currently detained at the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) in Kireka, a Kampala suburb.

According to media reports, the detained persons are Levi Rutangungira and Herbert Twagiramukiza.
Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Frank Mugambage, said that his office was aware of the case but is yet to get details

"We are certainly making a follow up. We should be able to furnish details tomorrow (today),” Mugambage said.
The two were, reportedly, picked up by plain clothed security operatives on February 4 and whisked to Wandegeya Police Station where they were interrogated for several hours.

Richard Kabonero, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, said that he did not have any information regarding the case.

"I am not aware, but I will find out tomorrow (Saturday),” Kabonero said.
