RWANDA took their winning streak in the on-going Zone V Basketball Championship to three games after yesterday’s 89-76 victory over Uganda at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
Compared to the first two games, Uganda proved a hard nut to crack. The first quarter ended 19-19 but the hosts recovered well to win the second quarter 23-13.
They increased the lead to 15 points after claiming the third quarter 22-17. Uganda fought back in the final quarter 27-25 but it was a little too late for a meaningful resurgence.
Mathew Miller was by far Rwanda’s best player with 23 points and five assists. Kami Kabange scored 20 points while Hamza Ruhezamihigo and Robert Thomson weighed in with 16 and 18 points respectively.
Uganda‘s Norman Blick Billal scored a game high 30 points but it was a little too late for a meaningful resurgence.
In the other day’s matches, Kenya’s men side edged Tanzania 54-51.
In the women category, Rwanda maintained their 100 percent record after thrashing Burundi 83-53. Tanzania and Kenya were also on the winning end after trouncing Ethiopia (55-53) and Uganda (64-32) respectively
Today, two games are on cards.
Uganda entertains Tanzania in the men’s category while Kenya clash with Tanzania in the women fray.
