US Army Africa Commander arrives

KIGALI - The Commander of the U.S. Army Africa (USARAF), Maj. Gen. David Hogg, arrived in the country yesterday afternoon for a three-day visit.

KIGALI - The Commander of the U.S. Army Africa (USARAF), Maj. Gen. David Hogg, arrived in the country yesterday afternoon for a three-day visit.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, his visit is aimed at strengthening the partnership between USARAF and the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). The General will hold discussions with senior RDF officers about regional security.

He will visit the peace keeping operations centre, at the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, and the genocide memorial centre, at Gisozi.

Headquartered in Vicenza, Italy, USARAF is the land forces component of U.S. AFRICOM, which is based in Stuttgart, Germany and led by Gen. William E. Ward.
