The Russian signed a two-year contract over the weekend and his first assignment is next month’s Kenya Karate Open which is expected to feature teams from Germany, Australia, Luxembourg and Italy among others.
According to the technical director of the national karate federation Guy Didier Rurangayire, the Kenyan Open together with a few other local and regional tournaments will help Adamov pick the best possible squad for the Games.
Karate is one of seven sporting disciplines Rwanda is expected to compete in. The others include boxing, athletics, lawn tennis, table tennis, Paralympics, cycling and Karate.
In the last edition held in Algiers, Rwanda returned empty handed. Dieudonne Disi came closest to the podium after a fourth spot finish in the half marathon.
This year's event will run from September 3-18 and will be held at Zimpeto stadium.
