Members of the Association of Rwandan Professionals residing in Burundi (APRB), have decided to put in place an organization to be known as "Rwanda-Burundi Business Council” this year.

A communiqué from the Rwandan Embassy in Bujumbura indicates that this new platform will develop the associative spirit and the cooperation between members of APRB and their Burundian colleagues by emphasizing trade and investment.

On January 30, Eraste Kabera, Rwanda’s envoy to Burundi, organized an end-of-year reception in which APRB members were invited, and the idea was announced.

"Rwanda and Burundi are now tied by strong relations as indicated by regular visits of our two Heads of State,” Kabera, said in an e-mail on Monday.

"They have to be considered as essential and needed foundations on which we have to raise something else to promote the wealth and welfare of our two peoples.”
"It is from that vision that we have thought to set up a platform to help us promote and enhance socio-economic and exchanges between Rwandans and Burundians through trade and cultural events.”

The Rwanda-Burundi Business Council is expected to be a shared socio-economic development platform. The envoy pledged APRB the full support of the Embassy in this endeavor.
