Hitimana appointed U-23 coach

AS Kigali Coach Thierry Hitimana has been temporarily assigned to coach the national U-23 team ahead of next month’s 2012 London Games qualifiers.According to reports from the local football governing body (Ferwafa), Hitimana’s coaching experience was key in his appointment although reliable sources also revealed that Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh threw in a good word for him.

AS Kigali Coach Thierry Hitimana has been temporarily assigned to coach the national U-23 team ahead of next month’s 2012 London Games qualifiers.

According to reports from the local football governing body (Ferwafa), Hitimana’s coaching experience was key in his appointment although reliable sources also revealed that Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh threw in a good word for him.

The former Rayon Sport coach, worked as Tetteh’s assistant for the Africa Youth Championship qualifiers were the U-20 side was ejected by Congo Brazzaville.
Rwanda will open their Olympic Games qualifying campaign against Zambia.

The winner of the two-legged match will then proceed to the second round were the top 12 teams will progress into the third and final qualification round.

Here, teams will be divided into three groups of four. The winner in each group will qualify for the Olympics.

Third round matches will be played on September 21, November 23, November 27, 2011, February 5, February 22 and March 14, 2012.
