LAST gasp goals from Moustapha Kasse and Mohamed Diop gave Senegal a 2-0 win over Rwanda in the first of two Group D games played yesterday in Port Sudan.

Amavubi, who are only making their debut in the Africa Nations Championship, marched into yesterday’s game looking for a positive start and although they looked like they had done enough to warrant a point, things fell apart in the dying minutes.

Despite enjoying the lion’s share of possession, the wasps could not convert several chances that came their way.
And with two minutes to play, the Teranga Lions taught them how it is done.

Kasse set the stadium alive with the opener after shooting past Rwanda’s second choice goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli.

In added-on time, Diop put the match beyond Rwanda’s reach after a well taken free-kick at the edge of the penalty area to secure victory for the West Africans, who reached the semi-final in the maiden edition held in 2009 in Ivory Coast.

Amavubi’s next game is on Friday against Tunisia.
Group D’s other game between Angola and Tunisia ended in a 1-all draw.

Today, action continues in Group A. Gabon face Algeria while hosts Sudan lock horns with Uganda.
