Today’s fixtures

RWANDA got their Zone 5 basketball championship off to a flier after convincing victories in both categories yesterday.

The women side crashed a helpless Ethiopian side 98-53 while their male counterparts demolished Burundi 98-60 at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.

2007 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Hamza Ruhezamihigo had a game high 25 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the hosts ran amok in front of a full house.

Kami Kabange scored 19; Robert Thomson added 16 while Mathieu Miller weighed in with 11points.
After the game, Ruhezamihigo said, "it was a good game for the team and I’m glad we won it convincingly.”

"We now need to stay focused and continue playing well,” the shooting guard added.
Rene Gatogato led Burundi’s scoring wheels with 13 points.

In the day’s other games, Uganda was on the losing end.
After falling prey to Kenya’s robust men team 76-61, Burundi increased Uganda’s misery after a close contest 73-69.
