Editor,

Allow me, through your newspaper to commend the good work done by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) in organizing successful Local Government Elections, that saw a huge voters turnout throughout the country, last week.

In   the District of Kayonza, Eastern province where I come from, elections went on peacefully and ended on time.

I interacted with many residents who commended how the polls run. The mood was good and everybody was excited about these elections. Even the elderly, who ordinarily would have stayed at home turned up early.

I heard many voters commend  NEC for carrying out massive sensitization  campaigns which prepared the voters.
These elections also explain something else. The high turnout, the calmness that characterized the elections and the eagerness of all people to participate speaks volumes.

It indicates that Rwandans have matured politically and want to take care of their destiny. They know that they can only guard or defend their rights through voting better leaders in office. Keep up the good work, NEC.
