KIGALI - Over 120 veterinary experts from all over the world will convene in Kigali from February 14-18 to attend the 19th Conference of the World Organization for Animal Health, Africa chapter.

This was revealed on Thursday by Dr. Theogene Rutagwenda, the Director General of Rwanda Animal Resources Development Authority (RARDA) who is also Rwanda’s delegate to the meeting.

According to Rutagwenda, the conference will benefit the country by providing possible solutions to problems affecting livestock farming.

"Apart from hosting such a distinguished delegation of experts, we will share experiences on the delivery of veterinary services in Africa, particularly in Rwanda,” he said.

"We are also expecting to share experience on our home-grown solutions on solving problems faced by livestock farming in Rwanda,” he said.

According to Rutagwenda, the conference will discuss strengthening of veterinary services, gaps that exist in offering these services and veterinary service legislation in Africa.

The conference is held after two years and the last one took place in Ndjamena, Chad in February 2009.
