Well done on forest restoration

Editor,

I was more than pleased to read in The New Times, yesterday, that plans are underway to ensure that all the forests in Rwanda are restored.

Trees are very important for the environment. The extensive use of firewood and uncontrolled resettlement had led to massive deforestation.

In addition to massive tree planting exercises and the promotion of alternative energy, the Government has now set targets for restoring all forests.

As an environmentalist, I must say this is good to hear and I wish other countries could borrow a leaf.
