The Rwandan High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya, has said that the move to showcase the country’s products to prominent Kenyan business executives, and others, is steadily gaining momentum as similar events are planned in the near future.

On December 7, 2010, the Commission hosted a select group of business executives, envoys accredited to Rwanda (resident in Nairobi) and friends of Rwanda in a unique marketing event.

"We are planning to hold another event with real estate focus. The idea came from the participants in last year’s event who would like us to organize the next event with them (banking and real estate institutions),” Rwanda's Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya, Yamina Karitanyi, said in an e-mail on Wednesday.

Karitanyi, who is also in charge of trade and investment at the High Commission, said that: "Some (people) who attended the last event have been in touch with various institutions and companies in Rwanda.”

"There is a Fund whose clients are looking into buying some of the tea plantations being privatized; there is a group that is going to Rwanda next month with interest in energy opportunities, and there is a Bank which was already set to enter the Rwanda market with which we have been sharing opportunities in agro-processing,” she said.

Late last year, the Rwandan High Commissioner, William Kayonga,

noted that the event was key to helping Rwandan manufacturers to access foreign markets.
During the previous event, various Rwandan products including diary, coffee and a variety of soft beverages from Inyange Industries,were displayed.
