RwandAir, the national carrier, says that its passenger traffic will rise by 23 percent to 16,000, this year, from 13,000 in 2010, occasioned by new routes. The carrier also plans to launch its flights between Kigali and Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, beginning March this year, as part of its wider plan to penetrate into the West African market.

The carrier also plans to launch its flights between Kigali and Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, beginning March this year, as part of its wider plan to penetrate into the West African market.
"We are planning to connect the East, Central African to West Africa and the new route is expected to add value to the business community and also create business opportunities to the people of region and the republic of Congo,” RwandAir’s CEO, John Mirenge said during a press conference.
The carrier operates a fleet of two Boeing 737-500s, two CRJ200s and dash 8-figures.
Brazzaville comes as RwandAir’s eleventh destination, and the airline plans to be flying three weekly flights, on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
Management also announced the acquisition of two Boeing 737-800s slated for delivery in August and October this year.
