A multi-million dollar complex, considered to be the best movie theatre in the country, Cine Star, is expected to be re-launched on February 14, an important day for lovers. It is located in Nyamirambo, a suburb of Kigali City.
The movie theatre, owned by one of the country’s entertainment moguls, Apollo Gafaranga, first opened in 2009. Gafaranga’s primary focus is clearly on sufficiency and luxury.
He has renovated Cine Star and furnished it with modern cinema facilities, including a massive top- class projector, which provides incredible entertainment, befitting a movie watching experience.
Muhamud Ntaganda, the Manager of Cine Star Cinema, said that he believes that it is a positive experience which defines the 500-seater cinema hall’s strategy for showbiz.
According to Ntaganda, a new schedule for movie screening has been put in place: Thursday (local and western movies), Friday (comedy night), where local and East African comedians will perform, with Saturday reserved for latest movies.
On Sunday, family movies will be screened, while Monday and Tuesday it is choice screening, where people will be allowed to bring their favourite movies.
Popcorns, ice cream and soft drinks will be available at the entrance. However, Ntaganda noted that even beer takers will be given a chance to enjoy their drinks in the waiting room.
Royal cards will also be available to those who want them. Membership cards are in two categories; a one-year royal card (Rwf 40,000) and a six-month card (Rwf 25,000).
"Both cards give privilege to families and couples.
You’re allowed to come with your family or lover if you have any of those cards,” Ntaganda said.
Cinema is one of the major forms of entertainment in most countries. Perhaps, business people in Rwanda should embrace the trend and invest in movie theatres. This would, generally, boost the entertainment industry.
