Following the prevailing insurgency in Kenya, the KCB Safari Rally dates are likely to be rescheduled.

According to reports from the African Rally Championship, the organizers of the Rally have applied to the FIA to postpone the African Rally Championship (ARC) second round to 27/28th June 2008.

It is also reported that Zambia has agreed in principle to delay the Zambia International Rally originally scheduled for July 18-20th.

Initially, the Safari rally had been scheduled for March 21-23rd but will now be held in June, three weeks after Rwanda’s Mountain Gorilla Rally.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s Muna Singh last Sunday underlined his title credentials for this season after topping the Alliance Assurance-Kobil Rally of Tanzania; the first round of the 2008 ARC. The 2004 and 2005 ARC champion currently tops the ARC charts with 10 points.

Uganda’s Jas Mangat and Zambia’s Lola Verlaque who finished in second and third spot respectively follow closely with eight and six points. Rwanda’s ace driver Rudy Cantanhede who finished 9th has two ARC points, one short of Japanese Hideaki Miyoshi.

This year’s ARC calendar has lined up six races; one short of last year after South Africa failed to inscribe an event.

Events on this year’s calendar include Kobil Rally of Tanzania, KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally, KCB Safari Rally Kenya, Zambia International Rally and the Dunlop Zimbabwe Challenge Rally.
