Spanish power-forward Álvaro Calvo Masa has signed for Rwanda Basketball League newcomers Kigali Titans for one season.
Titans’ president Eugene Rubonera confirmed the signing to Times Sport noting that the player is expected in Rwanda on Wednesday night.
Rubonera is convinced that the addition of Masa on the Titans’ roster is a major boost to the club’s basketball ambitions this season.
"Our goal is to continue to build the team and continue to perform well in the league,”
Masa, 39, most recently played for Burundian basketball outfit Urunani in the qualifiers of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Standing at 2.03 m (6 ft 8 in), he is a two-time Most Valuable Player of the Mozambican League where he featured for Ferroviario de Maputo with whom they won two domestic championships.
During the 2021 BAL campaign, Masa was the leading scorer for his team with 19.8 points, helping them to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The Kigali Titans were promoted to the topflight league last season after topping the 2021/22 second division basketball league.
Currently, the club sit fifth on the topflight league table standings with 13 points after eight games from which they won five and lost three.
