Ferwafa to name Olympic team care-taker

RWANDA’s football governing body, Ferwafa is set to name an interim coach for the national U-23 team, which is expected to compete in the qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic Games.Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said that after consulting with Amavubi’s head coach Sellas Tetteh, they have decided to find someone to handle the team.

RWANDA’s football governing body, Ferwafa is set to name an interim coach for the national U-23 team, which is expected to compete in the qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said that after consulting with Amavubi’s head coach Sellas Tetteh, they have decided to find someone to handle the team.
Initially, Tetteh was expected to take charge of the team but with so many international engagements lined up for Amavubi, Ferwafa have decided to look elsewhere.

"The London Games qualifiers clash with the 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers so Tetteh is out of the question,” Kalisa confirmed.

Ferwafa has until the end of next week to name the coach.
The U-23 side will open their qualification campaign against Zambia next month.
The winner of the two-legged match will proceed to the second round.

The winners in the second round will proceed to the third round were they will be divided into three groups of four.
The winner in each of the three groups will have a direct ticket to the London Games while the second-placed teams clash in a round-robin format were the winner will take on Asia’s representative for the final qualification slot.

Third round matches will be played between September 21, 2011 and March 14, 2012.
Rwanda’s youngsters are chasing for a maiden appearance at the Olympic Games. In 2008,  the team was knocked out by Morocco.
