EMMANUEL Ruterana has upped his preparation ahead of this year’s Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) East Africa Golf Tour.
The eight-legged series begins on February 9 with the KCB Biashara Club Invitational valued at Rwf3.7m.
However, Ruterana and his compatriots Jean Baptist Hakizimana, Ernest Ndayisenga and Olivier Munyaneza are only eligible to compete in five events namely; KCB Tanzania Open, KCB Rwanda Open, KCB Kenya Open, KCB Uganda Open and KCB Classic Tour (Mombasa) collectively valued at Rwf44.6m.
Ruterana says he is looking forward to playing his best golf in the series.
"I have worked on my swing and believe I can play better golf now,” he said. The golfer had a quiet 2010 by his standards and is desperate to get back into the swing of things starting with the KCB Tanzania Open from May 12-15.
The 28-year-old believes enjoying himself out on the course is key to a return to form.
This year, KCB has splashed over Rwf66.7m in the tour.
The opening round will be staged at Thika golf course (Feb. 9-12) followed by Muthaiga (March 2-5), Nyanza (April 6-9), Nakuru (June 8-11), Arusha Gymkhana (May 12-15), Kigali Golf Club (May 25-28), Uganda Golf Club (July 6-9) and the grand finale at Nyali Golf and Country Club Mombasa (August 10-13).
Last year, Ruterana finished behind Kenya’s Dismas Ndiza in the KCB Rwanda Open. Hakizimana settled for third place.
