One of the best afro-pop singers in Rwanda, Nillan, has announced plans to release 20 tracks this year as part of his comeback in the game after spending months without new releases.
The fast rising artiste confirmed the development in an exclusive interview with The New Times after dropping ‘Mafia’, the first song among the 20 to be released this year, which premiered last week.
"This year I’m dropping a minimum of 20 songs starting with 14 February. Y’all getting fine jams from me,” Nillan said.
The 21- year- old musician further noted that releasing back to back songs this year is in line with the target he has of taking his unique sound to places, as well as introducing a new wave in the Rwandan music industry of chill afro pop vibes.
"Anyone who followed my journey ever since I started producing music can tell how my sound is unique. It is a blend of Afro Pop, RnB and every genre of good vibes, and I want to make this a thing in our industry,” he said, adding that his recently released track ‘Mafia’ is proof that a new wave of sounds is soon taking over local airwaves.
Mafia, Nilan’s new song since he dropped the City Boy album, premiered on February 7, and was produced by Josh.
According to Nillan, Mafia is the first track among the 20 he’s expected to release before 2023 ends.
"The second track will also be out on valentines. Expect mad tunes and big collabos only this year. We are changing the game,” he added.
Real name, Moise Ntare Senga, Nillan is one of the youngsters at the forefront of the game who ventured into music professionally in 2020, after completing his studies at Nyundo School of music, where he majored in music production.
He rose to prominence after dropping his first studio album, City Boy, a masterpiece consisting of only hits and special appearance of renowned musicians like Okkama, E.T, Kivumbi and others.
The album, which dropped in 2021, is still on the trend with tracks like ‘Sober’, Balcony, My Side, Monalisa and many others still dominating charts.
