KIGALI - The outgoing Mayor of Kigali City, Dr Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, has said she will not contest for the city’s top job during the forthcoming local government elections.

Speaking to The New Times yesterday, the Kirabo said she decided to step aside and leave the seat to others, despite having received many messages commending her for the work she did while in office.

According to Kirabo, she had experienced great moments during her tenure and the city recorded tremendous development but she attributed all this to the teamwork spirit that characterised her office.

"I was still eligible to stand, but due to a number of personal commitments, I thought it would be more ideal if I left it to others,” said Kirabo, who was a Member of Parliament before running for the office.

Asked whether this would be the end of her political career, Kirabo explained that that door was not yet shut.

"..well, as you now I am a human being, and as they say we are political animals. I cannot deny the ambitions but that may happen in future,” she said.
Meanwhile, Kirabo hailed all people, especially the whole KCC team, for a good working spirit and a sense of patriotism.

"I will always be there and give my advice whenever I am approached, I know that all Rwandans love their country and that is what has brought us where we are. This kind of spirit should always prevail,” she said.
