KIGALI - The Rwandan Ambassador to China, François-Xavier Ngarambe this week travelled to Laos People’s Democratic Republic to present his Letters of Credence to President Choummaly Sayasone.

Ngarambe said that he would like to see ties between Laos and Rwanda developed in the interest of the people of both countries.

"The Laos President briefed the Rwandan Ambassador on his country’s background and current achievements, the vision for the future up to 2050. He outlined the country’s development goals and strategies to attain them,” reads a statement from the embassy in Beijing, China.

Ngarambe gave a presentation on Rwanda, and highlighted the similarities between the two countries, from a painful past which created strong resilience and a commitment to a better future, to a visionary and committed leadership through determination and hard work in the fight against poverty.

According to the statement, the President Sayasone shared the same view with the Ambassador, saying that it was necessary to take stock of the similarities to build strong relations.

Sayasone emphasized that both countries should quickly start exploring areas of concrete cooperation, taking advantage of their mutual strengths for their respective social and economic development.

Ngarambe is the first Rwandan Ambassador accredited to Laos since the two countries established diplomatic relations on August 31, 2009.
