To reduce APR’s lead to five points

SC KIYOVU moved within five points of reigning Primus National Football League (PNFL) champions and table leaders APR after yesterday’s 2-0 victory over Amagaju at Mumena stadium.

The green baggies marched into the tie without several key players but still got the job done thanks to goals from Jack Tuyisenge and former Rayon Sport striker Yusuf Ndayishimiye in a game which was one-sided.

Kiyovu coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira was pleased with the win and urged his players to keep up the consistency.
"It was important for us to win today and we now have to keep that run going,” the former APR Coach said.

Kiyovu now have 22 points, five adrift of APR whose game against Etincelles was postponed following the sides’ continental engagements.

APR is gearing up for an Orange Champions League preliminary round clash against Club Africain while Etincelles are expected to fly to Congo Brazzaville for an Orange Confederation Cup date against AC Leopards.

At Kicukiro, Police grinded out a 1-0 win over Mukura thanks to Meddie Kagere’s second half goal.

Elsewhere, Musanze failed to make the most of home advantage after a 1-all draw against La Jeunesse while Rayon Sport’s inconsistence dragged on following yesterday’s goalless draw against AS Kigali.

The Blues are struggling to reinstate themselves as a power house in Rwandan football despite the club’s recent takeover.

Police’s victory moved them above Etincelles and level on point with Rayon (17 points). Meanwhile, Mukura and Muhanga are still stuck at the bottom with five and two points respectively.

PNFL action will resume after next month’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) which is going to be staged in Khartoum, Sudan.
