The revelation, last week, by a meeting of the ministers of defence and army chiefs from the CEPGL that a new armed  group has emerged in the DRC with an objective of destabilising Rwanda and the wider region call for a joint effort.

The joint military offensive by Congolese and Rwandan forces to wipe out FDLR rebels was quite successful. A similar approach should be applied to other rebel groups which have come up in Congo if lasting peace is to be attained.

We cannot afford to slide backwards into turmoil. It is such joint effort which will determine whether the Congolese who have known so much suffering at the hands of rebels will move forward to peace and prosperity.

Congo has witnessed suffering for the past decade because of small rebel groups without a clear agenda. 
I wonder why these self seekers imagine they have a right to kill and maim other people in order to satisfy their egos. The likes of Kayumba Nyamwasa and Patrick Karegeya have no room in the current democratisation process of the region.

They deserve to be uprooted wherever they are. All regional governments should rally behind this cause. Africa is tired of war. It is time we talked peace instead of fighting one another.
