Gatsibo - AJPRODHO Jijukirwa, a youth association engaged in human rights promotion and development, on Monday trained 32 members from local communities in Gatsibo district in service delivery.

The participants were drawn from the sectors of Rwimbogo and Gitoki and were trained under the association’s Public policy information monitoring and advocacy project (PIMA).

According to the project coordinator, Fred Musiime, the three-year project, financed by the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), will operate in four sectors of the district.

"The project is scheduled to operate in the sectors of Kabarore, Rugarama, Gitoki and Rwimbogo sectors. We select two cells in each sector and four villages in each cell because the project targets five groups of people,” he said.

He named the five groups as youth, people with disabilities, historically marginalized groups, the very poor people and women and girls.

Mussiime explained that the trainees will be trained how to use ‘community score card’ that helps local community to evaluate local authorities on service delivery.

"The main purpose of this training is to help these groups evaluate whether they receive services as they are entitled to them,” he said.

Didace Niyonizeye, one of the trainees from Gitoki sector, said that the training facilitated them to expend skills on the use of the score card, where they will jointly be evaluating service delivery with local leaders in their respective areas.
