RWANDA has emerged as one of the front runners to host this year’s Cecafa Kagame Club Championship, Bonnie Mugabe reports.
The development follows reports would be hosts Zanzibar have failed to keep their house in order.
Cecafa’s Secretary General Nicholas Musonye told Times Sport yesterday that Zanzibar’s Football Association (ZFA) has until the end of this month to iron out their internal differences or lose out on hosting the tournament.
"They have until the end of January to sort out their mess. If they don’t, we will shift the tournament to either Rwanda or Kenya,” the official warned.
ZFA held elections on December 31, 2010 in Pemba but massive controversies have since erupted.
Close to twelve teams are expected to compete in the event which was first held in 1974.
APR are the defending champions.
