AMAVUBI head coach Sellas Tetteh is bemused by the team’s poor preparations ahead of next month’s 2011 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

With just over a week to the showpiece, only a handful of the provisional 23-man squad have managed to show up for training.

The Ghanaian, who is eager to redeem his reputation, after losing his first two 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Benin, yesterday stressed that success never comes cheaply.

Most of the clubs chose to hold onto their players ahead of the Primus National Football League second round as well as Orange Champions League (APR) and Orange Confederation Cup (Etincelles).

"It is very unfortunate because there is very little time left to prepare. I have been notified that most of the players will join camp next Thursday,” a furious Tetteh said.

One of Rwanda’s Group D opponents Angola will continue their CHAN build up in Brazil were they will play a series of trial matches.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s Black Stars are in Nairobi for a 12-day training camp. Ghana were losing finalist in the first edition which was won by the DRC.

The tournament, which is reserved for players featuring in their respective local leagues, will attracted 16 teams split into four groups.

Group A has hosts Sudan, Gabon, Uganda and Algeria, Group B includes Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger, Group C pits DRC against Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Mali while Group D is made up of Rwanda, Tunisia, Angola and Senegal.

Rwanda qualified after edging second round opponents Tanzania 1-0 on aggregates and will open their campaign on February 7 against Senegal.
