Diana Munyana Musoni, 14 years, emerged among the top 10 best Senior three candidates in the country in the recently released 2010 examination results. She scored seven aggregates.
She was born on May, 17th, 1996 and she attended Kigali Parents School before joining Nu Vision High School.
She attributed her success to several factors, for instance; determination and following advice from her elders, parents and teachers.
"It was through hard work, being confident and setting my goals right that I attained seven aggregates. I was motivated by one of our students of 2009, who was not always the best in her class but she read her books believing that she would make it and she became one of the top performers in the country so I emulated her,” Munyana said.
She said that she received the news on radio and could not believe it.
"I thought that it was someone else who had a similar name as mine. It was my uncle who called to congratulate me and that was when it sunk into my mind that the news was true,” she said.
Munyana‘s mother, Aurelia Tushabe, said she was speechless.
"I received a phone call while seated in the taxi and everyone in the car was surprised with my reaction in that they started asking me what had happened but I failed to say anything since I was overwhelmed,” she said.
Augustine Musoni, Munyana’s father said: "It’s not an ordinary thing to be the best performer in the country but I had my trust in her since she has the potential. I’m happy for her and will make sure she attains her goals in life.”
Chemistry is Munyana’s best performed subject; she said she would pursue Physics, Chemistry and Biology in A’ Level.
"I want to become a Civil Engineer in the future,” Munyana said.
