RUSIZI -After receiving an award for being the best Banque Populaire branch, Rusizi, held an evaluation meeting where its best clients were also rewarded.
According to Nadine Rwego, the meeting was the first of its kind since the cooperative bank became a commercial bank.

"It’s meant to evaluate how the branch operated last year and set targets for 2011,” Rugwiro said.  

In 2010, Rusizi branch deposits increased twofold from Rwf2bn to 4.6bn while the number of customers significantly increased, which earned the branch the number one position among the 18 branches countrywide.

At the event, the bank also awarded certificates to four of their best customers. 

"This bank has greatly improved our way of living. It has also helped vulnerable people like widows to develop by providing them with loans,” said Adrian Munyantore, one of the awarded customers.

Banque Populaire was hailed for some of its outstanding services like mobile banking, Gwiza and Hirwa accounts, where customers can save and get profits from the bank.

Solutions to some issues like long queues and poorly constructed offices were also addressed. 

"We going to construct a modern facility where the branch will be operating,” Rugwiro said, adding that they will soon open a VIP section and install an ATM to reduce on the queues.
