According to Sports Minister Joseph Habineza, Kagame thanked the team for a job well done and advised them to quickly switch their focus to the World Cup which kicks off towards the end of June.

According to Sports Minister Joseph Habineza, Kagame thanked the team for a job well done and advised them to quickly switch their focus to the World Cup which kicks off towards the end of June.
"He thanked the team for a job well done and cautioned the players to draw lessons from their final’s defeat against Burkina Faso ahead of the World Cup,” the minister said.
Habineza also revealed that the president had promised to facilitate the team during their World Cup preparations.
Rwanda settled for silver following a 2-1 defeat against a rejuvenated Burkina Faso side in Saturday’s final at Amahoro stadium.
The Burkinabe opened the scoring in the 58th minute through Zaniou Sana who intercepted a weak back-pass from Rwanda’s skipper Faustin Usengimana.
Charles Tibingana Mwesigye equalised for the hosts on the 65th minute with a thunderous strike but the West Africans restored the lead seven minutes later after another cracker from Aziz Abdoul Kabore.
Africa’s representatives in Mexico will include Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Congo Brazzaville and Ivory Coast.
