The Rwandan team qualified to World Cup in Mexico despite losing to Burkinafaso.

Editor,

I would like to thank the Junior Wasps and the entire football fraternity in Rwanda for the great work and support shown in Saturday’s final under-17 match, which ended with a 2-1 win for Burkina Faso.

First it was great for Rwanda to host the the tournament. As Rwandans, we benefited in one way or another, especially in terms of sports tourism.

The way the Rwandan team played showed the standards of the game are steadily improving. Our football academy should just be strengthened. I believe players who emerge from this competition can graduate to another level and play in other tournaments like the under-20 championship.

What is left is to prepare for the Fifa U-17 World Cup scheduled for June in Mexico and the rest is history. The team should now gear up for a greater game. This will be the time to raise our football stakes further.

Chances of Rwanda shining in the forth coming World Cup are high, if the current form of players is anything to go by.
I’m confident we can come out winners and this is a vision that Rwandans must believe and strive to achieve.
