Police in Musanze District is holding five secondary school students after they were found in possession documents with a forged  stamp and signature of the headmaster of ET Karuganda in Burera District.

The students had used the forged documents to get admitted into Lycee de Ruhengeri-APICUR.

The students in senor five and six were identified as Jeanot Nkurunziza, 20, Ndizeye Isaac, 19, Phocus Turatsinze, 20, Jean Marie Vianney Muhirwa and Emmanuel Izerimana 18.

The Director of Lycee de Ruhengeri, Justin Ndayambaje, said the school authorities had warned the students against forgery.

The students, who are being held at Muhoza Police Station, said that they paid Rwf5000 to a person identified as Vitar Manirakiza who forged the documents for them.

"When our school was closed, (ACETI Imanzi) I wanted to get admitted in a nearby school to continue with my studies, that’s how I ended up buying the document,’’ Isaac Izerimana said.

At ET Karuganda, authorities said they had heard reports about people who were selling their reports to students and informed neighbouring schools to be vigilant.

"Some students who are expelled for indiscipline,  just  forge the reports and get admitted, while others alter the marks and their class on the fake documents,’’ Janvier, Nsengiyunva, a school patron said.
