APR vs Club Africain

APR new signings Kipson Atuhairwe and Johnson Bagoole remain doubts for the Orange Champions League preliminary round first leg tie against Tunisian giants Club Africain at Amahoro stadium.

The military side’s Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa confirmed to Times Sport yesterday that the club is still processing the duo’s ITC (International transfer certificate).

"The process is still on-going but Bagoole has a good chance of playing in the return leg. Kipson may play in the latter stages,” Kalisa said.

Ugandan international Bagoole joined in the off-season from DRC’s Vita Club but is yet to play a competitive game for the club, while Kipson, who featured for Amavubi Stars during last year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, was recruited from SC Villa.

APR has recorded a 100% start in the Primus National Football League (PNFL) after winning their opening nine matches and Coach Ernest Brandts is hoping for a replica display in the Orange Champions league.
After the first leg, APR will travel to Tunis for the return leg.

The winner will then play either Kenya’s Ulinzi Stars or Egyptian champions Zamalek in the first round.
Last year, APR suffered a premature exit (first round) following a 3-1 aggregate defeat against eventual champions TP Mazembe.

The Tunisian side is expected to arrive in the country early next week.
