Fun is a common word in the dictionary of young people. As the saying goes, ‘work without play, makes Innocent a dull boy.  This is a true belief. Many young people have their own definition of fun and that includes the night life of Kigali City.

I have heard so many people who are saying that Kigali’s night life is boring! These people compare Kigali to Kampala, Bujumbura and Nairobi and then conclude that Kigali is not the place to be if one wants to have fun. They say that there are no hangout places in Kigali and also that the entertainment sector is also not interesting!

However, I do disagree with these people completely! Before one compares Kigali maybe to Nairobi and Kampala, one has to understand the nature of Rwandans. I have to come to conclude unlike their regional counterparts, Rwandans are very reserved people. They tend to do their things in a softer and conservative manner.

Haven’t you ever gone to a hangout place in Kigali and found people seated comfortably sipping their drinks yet there is no music? Will you say that these people are bored? I bet you will not since to them, they are having a great time. Then why is it that Kigali is not fun?

Kigali is a great city because it offers entertainment to all sorts of people. Those crazy young people can go to Sundowner, Shooter, Where Have You Been (it’s a name of a bar in Remera), and Come Again! The last option is no more but still you can go to the other places!

The reserved people can hit Stella 2, there is always no loud music, Akabenzi in Remera; there you will meet Abasani and then MTN Centre, there you will meet all the corporate guys busy playing with their blackberries!

So there you go! Do not say that Kampala or Bujumbura are more fun than Kigali! Just try to find the right places and you will have a moment of a life time!
