GATSIBO -  147 classrooms and 264 toilets that were constructed in the second phase of the Nine-Year-Basic Education (9-YBE) programme in Gatsibo district will be commissioned before end of this month, an official has said.

Speaking in an interview last week, the district Director of Education, Frederick Rutebuka, said that some classrooms were at the finishing stage, while others have already been completed.

"We have even started distributing desks to some of the finished schools,” he said.

According to Rutebuka, all materials have been distributed to all construction sites and what was remaining was to push for the speedy construction works.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that students for the 9-YBE programme have not yet registered at their respective schools.
