JUNIOR Wasps skipper Emery Bayisenge, Faustin Usengimana and Charles Tibingana Mwesigye will make Amavubi’s provisional squad for next month’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Khartoum after impressing at the on-going Caf Africa U-17 championship in Rwanda.

Bayisenge and Usengimana have been outstanding at the heart of the junior wasps defence while Mwesigye has been a handful for opposition left backs.

Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh confirmed to Times Sport yesterday that the trio is in his plans for the upcoming tournament.

"They have been phenomenon in the Caf U-17 championship and deserve a shot at the senior level,” the Ghanaian said.

Rwanda is drawn in Group D alongside Tunisia, Angola and Senegal, which according to Tetteh is a fairly balanced group.

"We have been drawn against very good sides but we can still get past the group stages,” he confidently said.
Hosts Sudan, Gabon, Uganda and Algeria make up Group A; Group B has Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger while Group C pits holders DRC against Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Mali.

The 16-nation tournament, reserved for players featuring in their respective domestic leagues, is scheduled to run from February 4-25.

Rwanda qualified after edging second round opponents Tanzania 1-0 on aggregate and will open their CHAN campaign on February 7 against Senegal.
DRC won the inaugural event held in Ivory Coast in 2009.
