KIGALI - A group of 201 university graduates have completed a six-month internship programme coordinated by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

The program, which aims at equipping the youth with practical working skills and experience to facilitate their search for employment, saw the interns placed in various private and public institutions that are RDB partners.

The group was, yesterday, awarded certificates by Apollo Munanura, Head of Human Capital and Institutional Development Division in RDB, at a ceremony was held in Nyandungu, Gasabo District.

Speaking at the function, Munanura said that the internship program focuses on increasing skills by developing confidence and experience.

Anna Mugabo, the Director General of Labour in the Ministry of Public Service, commended the youth and urged them to use their newly acquired skills to better their lives.
She further revealed that through the internship programme, the ministry had sent ten interns to TATA Motors, a leading automobile company based in India, where two of them graduated with certificates.

"We send interns to North America and India as a reinforcement of providing quality skills which we may not have on the local labour market, in the hope that these youth import these skills and develop our nation.”

At the ceremony, RDB launched another internship phase for 300 interns.
