The e-Rwanda Project Coordinator at Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Wilson Muyenzi, has urged the local government entities to institutionalise ICT in their respective organs to steer the country towards development.

He made the call, yesterday, during a meeting of local government officials which aimed at discussing how service delivery can be improved at the local level.

"Local government needs to adopt e-culture as a way of increasing efficiency and effectiveness towards the improvement of public service delivery,” he said.

"You should use the available infrastructure such as the fibre optic cable, ICT buses, tele-centres, among others, to enhance ICT usage at local levels to transform our society both socially and economically”.

Muyenzi stressed that RDB targets to have every local government organ in the country using ICT to improve the way they serve their respective communities.

"We don’t want to find a district that has 40 staff with only 10 computers; we want to ensure a ratio that is one-to-one. Our target is to see the remotest Local Government levels embracing ICT,” he explained.
